Celeb Sightings Over the Weekend

There were so many events over the weekend and trust the Toke Makinwas of this world to bust their butts into the parties. lol. From the fairytale wedding between Tiwa Savage and Tee Billz, to the ELOY awards; an award that celebrates the works of women (hope to win one someday *wishful thinking mode activated*), to the launch of a self titled magazine by Monalisa Chinda, our celebs were everywhere and trust me to check them out online and serve them to you hot and spicy.

Let me quickly start off with the beautiful Monalisa Chinda in Jewel By Lisa
Monalisa donned a Jewel by Lisa piece at the launch of her eponymous magazine. As we mostly know, Jewel By Lisa has successfully discarded the age old fashion rule that states you can't mix two prints in an outfit and over the years, they have consistently broken that rule in a stylish way. This (one pictured above) is a paradigm of JBL's designs. Mixing of prints in an outfit is definitely not an easy task but JBL makes it seem like a piecemeal.

The mix of prints here is JBLic and I love the assymetric trumpet hem, my guts tell me it's heavily embellished, but the picture doesn't say much. But judging by the picture, this outfit fits perfectly on Mona, I like the choice of shoes too, it's not there to compete with the dress but rather complement it, would have preferred if the hair was pushed back tho', but all in all, it isn't a bad attempt.

Toke Makinwa: Too Busy To Plan a Wedding But a Familiar Paparazzi Face

It's a new week, and the energy around me today is almost non-existent(yawns); everyone at work is going about their business quietly, so I decided to take a break off to check my darling Linda Ikeji's blog, stumbled on some of this and some of that and on every this and that that happened over the weekend.
There was a common factor! booom!!!! Toke Makinwa was everywhere. OMG, I love this babe so much, I just couldn't get enough of her, I used "couldn't" because these days, I'm beginning to get more than enough of her. She graces every carpet, be it blue, red, orange, pink, lemon carpet and even mat sef; she's there(lol)!!! This wouldn't have been a problem if she hadn't granted an interview where she stated succinctly  that she was engaged but that she and her hussy had been too busy that to find a time to plan the wedding.
Well... Let's quickly take a look at what she has been busy doing after the cut...

How to Accessorize a Fringe Dress

Toke Makinwa in a fringe dress by Trish-O-Couture

Fringe is back, and adorning adorable dresses everywhere. The resurgence of this swinging accent has once again become popular, and for good reason. The hypnotizing movement captures the carefree, celebratory vibe of the 1920's flapper style. Because fringe dresses are slightly reminiscent of an earlier time period, it's important to modernize the style using the right accessories. Fringe fashion is not only fun, it's also figure-flattering. The swaying tassels that embellish the dress give it movement while also camouflaging any bumps. Because a fringe dress is a statement in itself, accessorizing is easy.

Minimalism
When it comes to wearing fringe in a way that's modern, the key is to keep it simple. Limit the fringe to one article of clothing at a time; when wearing a fringe dress, resist the temptation to put on fringe shoes, bags, pants, or jackets. The excessive use of tassels will result in a look that is overwhelming and messy. Avoid fringe-like jewelry as well. This mainly includes long pieces with many chains, such as large dangling earrings or long multi-string necklaces or bracelets. Pairing these items with a fringe dress will look redundant, and only take away from the desired drama of the dress.

A more show-stopping statement is to pair the intricate dress with simple accessories. Earrings are generally the jewelry of choice with a fringe dress. Necklaces only add more attention to the dress area, especially if they're long, putting too many eye-catchers close together while leaving the rest of the look bare and unfinished. Earrings balance the look by drawing attention to the face, in addition to the dress. Pick something simple but sophisticated like gorgeous studs or small drop earrings. If you're going to wear a bracelet, choose wisely. Pick something basic, such as a single bangle, that accentuates your overall look, otherwise it might just be a distraction.

Sleek & Chic
A fringe dress is already covered with hanging embellishments, so the best way to accessorize it is with an opposite (but not contradictory) aspect. This is key to modernizing a vintage style. While there aren't limitless options when styling a fringe dress, the items you do accessorize with should be sleek, chic, and simple. This will balance the volume and busyness of the dress, resulting in a combination that is tasteful and modern.

A well-fitted blazer is an unexpected addition that brings something new to the fringe style. The hard structure of the jacket is an interesting juxtaposition to the soft, free-flowing feminine fringe. You could even play with the idea of a cropped blazer, if the proportions are right for you. Cropped tops are especially flattering on those with a slim build and a long torso. Accessorizing with black leggings is also an option, especially since they help slim the legs. Ankle boots are also a great addition to the look. They are a fresh alternative to regular heels. However, a great pair of strappy slingbacks would look more appropriate if you're going for something more formal. As a finishing touch, top off your look with a cute clutch.

Some interesting celeb sightings... Tonto Dikeh, Ini Edo, Ayo Adesanya, Chidinma, Uti Nwachukwu et al...

Tonto Dikeh
Tattoos + Tonto Dikeh, the loud mouthed celeb + the horrible poses in the images above + the clueless combination of the backless shirt dress with embroidered collar and her pointed studded shoes= Do the maths... let me have your results... Sure not positive.

I was about to publish the post, when I suddenly noticed the receding hairline, I also have it, but I guess I'm smart enough not to make hairstyles that would expose the flaw... Hunnie, fashion is expressed when you focus on your strength and downplay your flaws.
*why do I have a feeling that she cut out the back just for the sake of showing off the loathsome tattoo?*
